Battery Physics

E-paper only uses power when the display changes.

The rest of the time — zero electricity. That's why Qbon table tents run for months on two AA batteries. Once the image is drawn, the display holds it indefinitely with no power draw — even if you remove the battery.

No cables. No power strips. No surge protectors. No screens going dark mid-service.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

01

What do the displays actually cost?

Hardware is priced per unit and depends on volume. A 20-table restaurant typically lands between $3,000 and $8,000 in upfront hardware, including shipping and pre-configuration. Request a demo and we'll give you exact pricing for your floor plan.

02

How long do the batteries actually last?

Two AA batteries last about 6 months at typical restaurant refresh frequency (3–8 updates a day). Coin-cell IoT references have hit 22 years on a single battery, but for restaurant use we plan for two changes per year — a 10-second staff task.

03

Do I need WiFi at every table?

No. Each display connects to your existing restaurant Wi-Fi network — the same network your POS uses. Range is typical Wi-Fi 4 range (about 100 ft indoors). For larger venues we recommend one access point per ~3,000 sq ft, which most operators already have.

04

What happens if a display goes offline?

It keeps showing whatever was last drawn — that's how e-paper works. The image holds with zero power. When the display reconnects, it pulls the latest content and refreshes. No blank screen ever.

05

Can I customize what each display shows?

Yes. Push content to all displays at once, a subset (e.g. patio only), or individual tables. Each side of a dual-sided display can carry independent content.

06

Do customers need an app to claim offers?

No. The QR code on every display opens your branded mobile storefront in their phone's browser. They claim, redeem, and even follow you — no app download required.

07

Is the AI content always good?

AI generates three layout variants and three copy options for every promotion. You review and approve from the portal in under 60 seconds. Nothing pushes to a display without your approval unless you turn on autopilot.
